I Can't Find My Phone And It's Really Bothering Me

It takes you a while to realize how attached you are. You are in denial about how important it truly is to you. Technology. And then one day, it fucks you over. Making you feel like road-kill.

We all know that the world relies on technology a lot, maybe a little too much. So imagine the whole entire world, universe, without technology. Just remove the essentials. Internet, cellphones, MP3's, computers; everything. Pretty messed up right? Even just thinking about it kinda makes me feel befuddled. But just the temporary absence of it would resolve so much. Relationships, jobs, families, even self disposition.

For teens it's sitting around waiting for that phone call or that text message. For adults it's waiting for the next conference meeting call. People quitting school because everything you learn at college could be found in the internet with maybe more information. Parents getting frustrated with their children because they are either too centralized in music and video games or texting without ceasing. Students getting their phones taken away by teachers. Schools taking away the old traditions of books and chalkboards to add computers to teach instead (think about all the lay offs).

The world revolves on technology. Sometimes it's beneficiary but to some extent. I've heard countless stories of people taking a short break from all of their electronic possessions and coming back in a deranged rant on how they never plan to part ever again. We rely too much, to the point when if we don't have some sort of electronic device with us or close to us, we go mad.

Asking "why" we take such strong confidence would be stupid, mainly because the universal reasons are obvious. They entertain us, keep us busy, help us with information, assist with communication, and pretty much anything else thinkable. But at the same time, they destroy us. We become addicted. Some more than others depending on either their social activities.

Even when we don't feel at our best, we revert to technology. Your mother yells at you and grounds you for a week, in anger you switch on your MP3 and the music silently allows you some sort of venting. You're in a room full of strangers and start to feel awkward, you take out your cell phone and fiddle with it, making you look like you have something to do. In an airport bored nearly to death, you take out some sort of gaming device to pass up the time.

The use of technology is everywhere. Yes, I realize that the obvious has been stated throughout this whole blog. And I apprehend the fact that the world will only progress technology-wise and that things will advance. But that also means that our obsession will worsen. Think about how this affects any relationship we come across. It's a terrible thought. Many schmucks* don't even know how bad it really is.

I have my own attachments and I have seen how it affects my parents, siblings, friends, even myself. It's unhealthy, though many try to find some sort of justification to it and they do come up with strong points but in the end technology is still dangerous, over used, life changing...even deadly.
