The Road

There is the road and there is you.
Just you and the road.
You take a step and then another.
Feeling a strange heaviness that somehow removed itself from you.
Next step. Boom. Boom. Boom.
Some sort of new lightness to you.
Like something is leaving you.
This feels...good.

Your worries, sadness, angers, solitary feelings.
They leave as you walk.
Remember, just you and the road.
You see a blue shadow, out in the distance.
It beacons to you.
It seduces you.
Something about it seems so...inviting.
What could it be?

The road tells you to run.
Oh the loyalty.
 Such kindness from the road.
You run.
Every step closer to the blue shadow, is a step away from all your troubles.
Your everyday thoughts delightfully abandon you.
The closer you get, the faster you smell the ecstasy.
The more you crave the solitude.
And what a contradiction, for you hate solitude.
The mere thought of being alone sends you into a whirlwind of sadness and despair.

Oh but not tonight.
No.
This is a whole new feeling.
Seductive.
Possessive.
Sensual.
Sexless.

Raw.

And as the blue shadow reaches you...you are there.
Wherever "there" is.
Oh,but you don't care!!
This moment can never be replaced by another human being.
Every action ever committed in this earth that instigated pleasure can not measure to this.

In every angle of your body, you feel free.
Weightless.
Comforted.
Alive.
You have no worries left.
You do not think of success, love, power, anger, or sadness.
What you would normally crave is no longer lurking in your brain.
It is just you and the road.
Under this, strange shadow.
But no matter how strange, it's given you more than you've ever dreamed of.

Clenching your teeth in utter pleasure of this sudden liberation.
There is no love, no sex, no amount of friendship to provide this wonderful feeling.
You don't dare question it.

You look back at the road.
The road.
Such a good friend it has been.
You see the trail of baggage you left behind.
Knowing you must return.
You take a unwilling step.
Boom.
The weight slowly crawling back.
Sending you spiraling towards reality once more.
The ecstasy.
Gone.

An overwhelming fear overcomes you.
Gravity embracing your body.
All of the pleasure of freedom.
Vanished.
You are left with what you had come with.
It is no longer just you and the road.
Houses.
Cars.
The light in your kitchen window.
Your back.

Your worries, all of your baggage.
It rapes you.
Body and soul.
The misery of your romance-less life.
Violating your brain.
Penetrating you in the cruelest of ways.

You know you can never return.
It was all a dream.
Never being just you and the road.
Boom.
Boom.
What is that noise?
Boom.
Boom.

Waking up in the shower.
The water is no longer warm.
You look around.
Embarrassed.
Trying to remember why you overstayed your welcome with the water.
Oh yeah.
I remember.
I was trying to think of what to write on my blog.

You sit down in the darkness of your room.
The only light is the one shining from your computer screen.
This is your life.
This is my life.
Resting your hands on the warm keyboard.
You begin to type...

There is the road and there is you.
Just you and the road...
